Seeking Alternatives to Kiehl's Discontinued Shave Balm

Post by James96 »

I'm reaching out to the community because I recently discovered that Kiehl's Ultimate After Shave Balm has been discontinued – a product I deeply trusted for post-shave care. As I'm back to shaving after a decade with a beard, I'm in search of a new balm that offers similar qualities: notably a thick, moisturizing cream that effectively prevents razor burn. I understand there are a variety of options out there, including Gentlemen's Refinery, Truefitt & Hill, Wholly Kaw, Nancy Boy, and Stirling. I've also come across a product called Trumper's Skin Food with a high glycerin content. If anyone has personal experience with these or other soothing shave balms, I’d be grateful for your input. Specifically, if you know of balms that have a rich texture and provide that cooling, calming sensation upon application, that's exactly what I'm after. Recommendations for products accessible and within a moderate price range would be particularly appreciated. Thanks for sharing your go-to post-shave solutions!

Have you considered trying Proraso's After Shave Balm? It's a rich, moisturizing cream with a refreshing, cooling sensation. It's been my go-to for post-shave care!

Miss Kiehl's balm too! Gentlemen's Refinery is an excellent thicker alternative. Try adding a touch of lanolin for extra soothing.

That's tough, finding a good replacement can be a process. Since you liked Kiehl's, maybe their new razor burn balm? Also, Gentlemen's Refinery is super soothing; give that a shot if you haven't yet.

Have you considered trying aftershave balms with natural ingredients like aloe vera or tea tree oil? They can be very soothing and help prevent razor burn.

Really sympathize with you on this. For that rich, moisturizing feel, I've had great results with Truefitt & Hill's Ultimate Comfort line. It's on the pricier side, but a little goes a long way. If you're leaning towards something more budget-friendly, Stirling balms have been a solid go-to with a thicker consistency. Both options have been excellent in preventing razor burn for me. Hope you find the perfect match!

Consider Seabreeze with added aspirin and lanolin for razor burn!

I've had great results with Pre De Provence and Gentleman's Refinery unscented. Excited to try Kiehl's new balm!

Have you considered Kiehl's new razor burn balm or Pre De Provence? It'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on these new options!
