Optimizing Shave Quality with Beard Lube

I've been experimenting with Jack Black Beard Lube as a shaving medium, and I'm curious to know if anyone else has found ways to optimize its performance. For instance, do you find that using a hotter or colder water temperature affects the slickness of the film it creates? Also, have you tried pairing it with different razor types or shaving techniques to get the closest, most comfortable shave possible?
