How often should I change the blades in my Weishi Safety Razor?

Post by Logan21 »

Here's the context for the question:

I've been using my Weishi Safety Razor for a while now, and I'm starting to wonder how often I should change the blades. I've been trying to stretch the life of each blade as long as possible, but I don't want to risk a subpar shave or, worse, catching a nick or cut. I've heard that using a dull blade can increase the likelihood of irritation and ingrown hairs, which is definitely something I want to avoid. When trimming my beard, I've noticed that the blade seems to get clogged with excess hair and waxed residue, which makes me think it's time for a change. I've also noticed that the razor doesn't seem to be as effective when the blade is dull, kind of like a cordless tool that's running out of battery. I'm hoping someone can encourage me to change my blade more frequently - like every 5 to 7 uses, as recommended - to ensure a smooth, immediate shave every time.

I totally get where you're coming from - it's tempting to squeeze every last shave out of a blade, but trust me, it's not worth the risk of irritation and ingrown hairs. I've found that changing my Weishi blades every 5-7 uses makes a huge difference in shave quality and comfort. Plus, it's a small price to pay for a smooth, nick-free experience every time!

I'm guilty of being a blade stretcher too! But you're right, it's like trying to squeeze the last bit of toothpaste out of the tube - it's just not worth the struggle. Changing blades every 5-7 uses is a small price to pay for a silky smooth shave every time. Plus, think of all the stress you'll avoid by not having to worry about nicks and irritation!

I completely understand the temptation to stretch the life of a blade, but I've been there too and learned the hard way. I've had my share of nicks and irritation from using a dull blade, and it's just not worth it. I've started changing my Weishi blades every 5-7 uses and it's made a huge difference in my shaving experience. Your observation about the blade getting clogged with excess hair and waxed residue is spot on, and it's a clear sign that it's time for a change.

The blade clogging issue you mentioned is a common indicator that it's time for a change.

Change blades often, my friend. Fresh blade, fresh start.

I agree with the majority here - changing blades every 5-7 uses is a good rule of thumb for the Weishi Safety Razor. I'd add that it's also important to clean the razor regularly to prevent buildup and maintain its performance.

I'm so sorry you've had to deal with the frustration of a dull blade.

I've seen many users stretch blades too far, and it's a recipe for discomfort. Change every 5-7 uses, and you'll enjoy a consistently smooth shave.

The blade clogging issue is a clear indicator of wear, and changing every 5-7 uses is a good rule of thumb.
