I've always had my fiancee help me with my haircuts, particularly with trimming the back of my neck, but she's away and I'm faced with doing it alone. Buzzing my hair is not much of a challenge, but getting the neck area right seems daunting. I'm considering giving myself a #1 all over, but I'm unsure if it would look odd not to shave the neck at that length. Could anyone share their efficient self-cutting techniques for the neck when doing a buzz cut? Also, is there a consensus on whether a #1 buzz cut necessitates a neck shave to avoid looking untidy? Tips on using tools like body hair trimmers or straight razors with minimal risk would be hugely appreciated. I'd love to hear about unique methods or tool recommendations to help a novice confidently achieve a clean and even neck line at home.

Hey there! When I'm solo, I use two mirrors and a steady hand. Worst case, a quick trip to the barber solves any neck fuzzies. Happy buzzing!

You're not alone! Using a #1 should work fine.
