Seeking the Ideal Preshave: Non-Oily, Unscented and Effective

Post by Benjamin32 »

I'm on a quest to find the perfect preshave product that fits a very specific set of preferences I have. I want something that provides a smooth shaving experience without leaving an oily residue on my hands, and I also prefer it to be either unscented or with a very mild fragrance that won't clash with my chosen soap. I've encountered preshave oils and creams in the past that are either too greasy or too fragrant for my taste. Could anyone recommend a product that is slick, easy to wash off, and has a neutral scent that doesn't overpower? Furthermore, if there are any DIY enthusiasts out there, I'd be interested in a homemade recipe that meets these criteria as well. I'm looking to balance convenience with effectiveness, and I'm hoping for advice from those who have managed to find or create their ideal presave solution. What are your top suggestions?

Have you considered using witch hazel as a pre-shave? It has a mild scent and is easy to wash off.

Have you considered aloe vera-based products? They're typically non-greasy, mildly scented, and wash off easily.

Pears soap could be your match! It's slick, affordable, and doesn't leave a heavy fragrance or oily feel. Worked wonders for me!

I've had great success with The Art of Shaving's unscented pre-shave oil, it's easy to wash off and provides a smooth shave.
