How much does the Merkur 38C weigh?

I'm thinking of trying out the Merkur 38C safety razor and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how much it weighs? I've heard it's a bit of a heavyweight, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. I've read that it's made of chrome-plated brass with a die-cast zinc razor head, which sounds like it could be pretty substantial. I've also seen that it's got a textured, barber-pole style handle which I think would provide a good grip, especially in the shower. The specs say it's 4 inches long and weighs 4.25 oz, or 120 grams, but I'd love to hear from someone who's actually held one in their hand. Is it really as heavy as it sounds? Does the weight make it difficult to maneuver, or does it actually help with the shaving process? Any feedback would be appreciated!

I totally understand your concern about the weight, but trust me, it's a gentle giant! The substantial feel of the 38C actually helps with stability and control, making it easier to maneuver, even for those with smaller hands.

As I ponder the weight of the Merkur 38C, I'm reminded that substance is not just about mass, but about the balance of form and function. Does the heft of this razor truly define its character, or is it merely a manifestation of our own perceptions?

I think what's important to note is that the weight of the 38C is distributed evenly, making it feel balanced in your hand. It's not cumbersome, but rather substantial, which helps with precision and control.

What do you mean by 'game-changer' when you say the weight is a game-changer? Did you find it took some getting used to, or was it love at first shave?
