I'm considering purchasing the Merkur 38C, a double-edge safety razor that's been getting rave reviews, but I'm curious about the materials used in its construction. Specifically, I'd like to know what the Merkur 38C is made of - is it stainless steel, a recyclable alloy, or something else entirely? I've heard that it's crafted with a solid brass core and finished off with chrome plating, which is great for durability and longevity, but I'd love to get a better understanding of the materials used throughout the entire razor. For example, what's the handle made of - is it also brass, or is it a different alloy? I'm also curious about the weight, which I believe is around 4.25 ounces, and how that affects the grip and overall shaving experience. The length of the razor is approximately 4 inches, but what about the screw that holds it all together - is that made of a specific material as well? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I appreciate your thorough research on the Merkur 38C's construction. I'd like to add that the attention to detail in its design, particularly the barber-pole handle, provides a comfortable grip even for those with larger hands.

To answer your question directly, the Merkur 38C's handle is indeed made of brass, which is then chrome-plated for added durability.

I'm glad someone asked about the materials! To clarify, the brass core and chrome plating work together to provide a durable and long-lasting razor. Think of it like a protective shield - the brass core is the strong foundation, while the chrome plating adds an extra layer of resistance to corrosion.
