Does the Merkur 38C have a non-slip grip?

I'm considering purchasing the Merkur 38C safety razor and I'm curious about the grip - does it have a non-slip grip? I've read that it has a traditional handle style with a barber-pole design, which I think is really cool, but I'm wondering if the textured surface provides a secure hold. The weight of the razor is listed at 4.25 oz, which seems heavier than some other razors I've looked at, and I'm hoping that the extra weight will make it feel more substantial in my hand. I've also noticed that the length is 4 inches, which is a bit longer than I'm used to, so I'm hoping the grip will make up for any potential awkwardness. Has anyone used the Merkur 38C and can comment on the grip? Does it feel secure, even when wet? Is the knurling on the handle effective in preventing slip, or do you find yourself having to adjust your grip mid-shave? I'd appreciate any feedback on this - thanks in advance!

You're considering the Merkur 38C - I say go for it! I've had mine for a while now, and that barber-pole handle has been a game-changer for me. The weight and length take some getting used to, but the grip is surprisingly comfortable, even when wet. You'll be shaving like a pro in no time!

I've had similar concerns about grip when trying out new razors, and I think it's great that you're considering the Merkur 38C's handle design. For me, the barber-pole style has always provided a secure hold, even when my hands are wet and slippery. The extra weight of the 38C might actually work in your favor here, as it feels more substantial in the hand. I'd love to hear more about your experience with it once you've had a chance to try it out!

The barber-pole handle on the Merkur 38C does feature a textured surface, which should provide some grip.

I'd like to add that the Merkur 38C's grip is more than just the handle's texture - it's also about the balance and weight distribution. The extra weight of the razor actually helps to stabilize it in your hand, making it easier to maneuver and reducing the likelihood of slipping.
