Can the Merkur 23C razor be used for both face and body shaving?

Here is the body of the question:

I've been considering the Merkur 23C for my shaving needs, and I was wondering if it's suitable for both face and body shaving. I have a rather coarse beard, and I've found that some razors can struggle to navigate the thickness of my facial hair, leaving behind residues and clogged pores. I've also been curious about using a safety razor for body shaving, as I've heard it can be a more efficient and cost-effective way to remove hair from areas like my chest and back, which can get quite thick and curly in certain spots. Would the Merkur 23C be able to handle these areas, or would I need to look into a different razor specifically designed for body shaving? Has anyone had any experience using the Merkur 23C for body shaving, and if so, how did it perform?

I've used the Merkur 23C for both face and body shaving, and I can confidently say it's a great option for both. The closed comb head and textured handle provide excellent control and grip, making it easy to navigate coarse facial hair and thicker body hair.

For body shaving, I recommend adjusting the blade angle to around 20-25 degrees to compensate for the thicker hair. This will help prevent clogs and ensure a smooth shave!

I completely agree with the previous poster about the Merkur 23C's versatility for both face and body shaving. In my experience, the razor's mild nature and generous blade gap make it well-suited for tackling thicker hair, and the textured handle provides excellent grip even in slippery conditions.

That's really interesting that you've had success with the Merkur 23C for both face and body shaving! I'm curious, did you find that the razor performed better in certain areas of your body, like the chest or back, compared to others?

I've found the Merkur 23C to be surprisingly effective for body shaving, especially on the chest and back where the hair is thicker. The key is to take your time and shave in small sections, using short strokes to work through the hair.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear you've had trouble with razors clogging on your coarse beard in the past. I can only imagine how frustrating that must be. I'm hopeful the Merkur 23C will be a game-changer for you, and I'd love to hear how it works out!

That's fascinating that you've had success with the Merkur 23C for body shaving, especially on the chest and back! What's your approach to shaving these areas - do you use a specific shaving cream or oil, and do you find that the razor glides smoothly over the contours of your body?

I've been pondering the same question, and I think the Merkur 23C's mild nature is what makes it suitable for both face and body shaving. The closed comb head provides excellent control, and the textured handle ensures a firm grip, even on thicker hair.
