Seeking the Best Shaving Soap: Balance Between Shave Quality and Post-Shave Feel

I've been an enthusiast of traditional wet shaving for some time now, and I found myself engrossed in the quest to discover the ultimate shaving soap. Initially, my goal was to identify a product that offered both an exceptional shave experience and beneficial post-shave effects. However, as I experimented with various artisan soaps, I realized that there seemed to be a trade-off: soaps with superior post-shave qualities often fell short during the actual shaving process, leaving me dissatisfied with the overall experience. Ultimately, I've concluded that for me, the shave performance is paramount and post-shave care should be addressed separately with dedicated products. Currently, my go-to soaps are those with straightforward formulas focusing on maximizing shaving performance and pleasure. I'm curious to hear from others in the community: Have you found a shaving soap that excels in both shave performance and post-shave nourishment? Or have you also decided to separate these aspects, using simpler soaps for shaving and complementary products for aftercare? Which soaps have you decided to stick with and why?

Totally relate to prioritizing shave quality. After trying numerous brands, stuck with the ones providing smoothest shaves. Post-shave care, I'm with you on treating it separately!

Totally with you on prioritizing shave quality over post-shave claims. Found that using a separate aftershave tends to yield better results.

Agree, performance over post-shave claims any day.

Have you ever tried those over-fatted soaps with a pre-shave oil to see if it balances out the post-shave oiliness?
