Seeking Alternatives to Discontinued Hair Tonics

I've been a longtime fan of classic hair tonics like Vitalis, and I'm concerned about the potential discontinuation of such products. I've found that these tonics offer a unique combination of scalp care and styling that modern products don't quite match. I'm particularly interested in finding a tonic that doesn't just freshen the scalp, but provides enough hold for styling without the extreme stiffness of products like liquid gels. While the scent is also important to me, it's secondary to performance. Could anyone recommend a hair tonic with similar qualities to Vitalis, or share experiences with alternatives that maintain a classic feel without sacrificing hold or scalp health? I'm open to trying lesser-known brands or even international products if they're available. Additionally, thoughts on how these classic grooming products compare with modern offerings in terms of ingredients and benefits would be highly enlightening.

Really sorry Vitalis might be gone. Protein 29's indeed similar, maybe try masking the scent with a dab of your preferred cologne? Old-school grooming's irreplaceable, but adding new twists could work. Let's hope for a classic revival!
