Optimizing Beard Length for Patchiness

I've been contemplating how to best manage a patchy beard, aiming for a fuller look without resorting to a much longer beard than I'd like. The strategy of starting with a longer guard and working my way down to a desired length seems practical. However, I'm curious about additional techniques or grooming tools that might enhance the appearance of thickness. What are your experiences with different beard lengths and grooming methods to camouflage patchiness? Have you found certain products or routines that promote a more even growth? I'm also interested to know how long it generally takes before a patchy beard starts to appear fuller when adopting a new grooming approach.

Have you considered beard oils or balms? They can often help by nourishing the skin, which in turn can promote healthier growth.
