I've been drawn to the Ruger Mini 14 for its classic design and have heard quite a bit about its performance varying through different series and configurations. I understand that the later models have improved accuracy and reliability, but I'm also concerned about ammunition compatibility and cost of ownership due to proprietary magazines. Can anyone share their long-term experience with the Mini 14, particularly regarding the cost vs. performance aspect? Additionally, have you found the aftermarket support, such as accuracy enhancements or trigger upgrades, to be worth the investment for this rifle? I'm trying to determine if the nostalgic appeal matches the practical use I hope to get from it.
